Warning and information labels

Labels on “warning” cartons, are also called commodity labels (white and colored). These are labels wound on rolls, printed with information, signs, symbols and warnings. The printing technique is optional, e.g. flexography, screen printing, thermal transfer. The print patterns are standard. BART company offers ready-made designs and paper labels such as “ATTENTION GLASS!” and “FRAGILE, KEEP DRY”. Warning and informational paper labels are mainly applied to cardboard packaging - unit or bulk packaging. Warning and informational foil labels are applied to metal products. They can be made of paper or foil, with one, two or multicolor printing, with the most common standard adhesive. Recently, constructions with biodegradable adhesive have appeared on the market. In the case of labels on cartons, a common problem is that the labels peel off from the surface of the cardboard and it is not known what is causing this. Because cardboard differs in composition and chemistry which sometimes deactivates the adhesive, BART printing house recommends sending a given cardboard to select the best adhesive. Flat surfaces usually do not pose a problem, but gluing on uneven surfaces or box edges causes problems and there is unfortunately no universal solution. It has often been found that changing the supplier of cardboard and material has caused the need to re-select labels and adhesives.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR APPLYING TO CARTONS:

What are the most common expectations for labels applied to cartons? The label should stick so that it leaves a trace that it was attached after peeling off. The label adhesive should bite into the cardboard structure. Customers usually want the cheapest solutions but forget that everything depends on the conditions of use of the labels. If the labels are applied to wet/moist cardboard or have chemistry in their structure that deactivates the adhesive, there is a sure problem. The longer and larger the label, the larger the surface area it adheres to the cardboard and the greater the forces holding it. If the label protrudes from one side of the cardboard by 1cm, for example, it will want to straighten out because materials always try to return to their original shape. It is important that operators/persons applying labels to cardboard do not apply and peel off the same label multiple times because they weaken the adhesive, and a label once applied and peeled off is not suitable for reuse.

MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! after applying the label to the surface, ALWAYS PRESS THE LABEL HARD!!!

Example of safe application:

If we apply labels on 1 edge, if the label has dimensions of 80x80 then it would be bent in half so that it protrudes from one side by 80x40mm.

If we apply labels to a narrow cardboard where there are 2 edges, if the label has dimensions of 80x80 we apply 25x30x25mm.
